Had Fun with Fisher on 103.7!

Thursday, January 14, 2010 03:32 AM by Olivia

Just finished a radio interview with Fisher in the Morning on Mix 103.7. Lots of fun! Apparently he thinks his Clemson jersey is a "polo." Men and fashion...

We talked about how there are three main components to how organized you can be:  your space, your stuff, and YOU. Out of the three, YOU are the hardest to change, so it's best to modify the other two as much as possible. That way you have fewer habits to change and it's less stressful to maintain your new sense of order.

And, as always, we hit on the basic procedures: sort, purge, categorize, then go buy your new shelves, bins, baskets, etc. (if you even need them after all of that.) I hate seeing the money people waste buying containers and systems that don't work for them because they didn't take the time to make and follow a plan. Seems to me, they'd be better off spending that money on a professional organizer, who can help them better use what they've already got Laughing.

At any rate, I had a blast, and hope I helped somebody...or at least made them laugh! If you want to check out their website, they're at http://mix1037.com. Click on Mix in the Morning to see their post. Thanks, Fisher!

Chris' Story: A Household Bursting at the Seams

Tuesday, December 1, 2009 09:36 AM by Olivia

Chris called us recently to help with her busy home in Richmond's historic Fan district. With a full time job, a husband, 3 kids and a dog she has little time for organization. When we met, Chris expressed her concerns about the family's down stairs living space. Living in a row house in the Fan, there is not much square footage and little closet space. Chris and her husband had done a great job of making many rooms "multi-functional" and adding storage, but they needed help creating systems that would work for the whole family. Crayons in the kitchen, drawing paper in the laundry room and kitchen gadgets in the bathroom made it difficult to keep track of everything. A central location for mail, school supplies and office supplies would make their lives a lot easier. In addition, parting with items seldom or never used would help create more space for the important stuff. What happened when we tackled this busy 1st floor? We'll show you later this month.

Fun on the Radio

Saturday, September 5, 2009 10:00 AM by Olivia

Had a fabulous time with the lovely Melissa Chase and her new cohort, Cash. We had several callers with interesting questions. My favorite one was the girl who works at a day care center and lives at home with her parents. She said that she still can't keep her room clean, so I told her to make a sticker chart just like the ones her kids get. When she fills up the chart, she gets to reward herself for her new, successful habit! Melissa seemed delighted and said she would love to have me back. Can't wait!

Check us out on Q94 3:00 today!

Thursday, September 3, 2009 06:22 AM by Olivia
Today is going to be exciting! In addition to attending three elementary school orientations, I will be the "pro" (lightly used term!) on the "Ask the Pro" segment on Q94. Since Melissa Chase recently moved from the morning show to the drive home, she's creating some new features. Apparently, I'm in the company of a psychic, a social networking expert, and various other types of guests who have done the show. I'll be sure to post later to give you all the details! Listen if you can!
